Andrea Martinez (she/her)
Counsellor, Teacher, Mother
I’m a counsellor, former teacher and mum - and my path to counselling has been shaped by many life experiences. I’ve had years in the classroom supporting kids with diverse needs, spent time living overseas which deepened my appreciation for different cultures and have a long-standing practice in mindfulness and movement as a yoga teacher. Raising a beautiful, autistic human (and two equally baffling neurotypical ones!) has also shaped the way I see the world. I have respect for the many ways people experience life and I love meeting people exactly where they’re at. Whether you’re a young person, a parent or a couple looking for support, I’m here to walk alongside you with warmth, curiosity and care.
Values
I value each person’s unique experience of the world and I honour their stories.
I value individual strengths and collaborate with individuals, couples and families to recognise and celebrate theirs.
I value relationships and believe that they are the cornerstone of our general wellbeing.
I value all people and relationships, embracing diversity in every form.
I've got qualifications and experience in inclusive education, counselling and working with people in Australia and overseas. But honestly? What matters most is that I value the people I work with. A warm, genuine commitment to your wellbeing is what I bring to every session.

Everyday life
When I’m not in the counselling room, you’ll usually find me hanging out with my family - they teach me heaps and give me plenty of chances to practice patience (I’m definitely still learning!). I love moving my body, whether that’s yoga or the occasional very slow run. Most nights I meditate because it helps me wind down - though, like everyone, the things that help most are often the first to go! I’m always up for a chat over coffee and love trying out new cafes in my neighbourhood. Dinner out is a treat, but I’m an early bedtime kind of person. I wish I made it to the beach more - nothing beats the feeling of saltwater and sunshine.
